We offer a select number of special, sliding-scale grants for:
- renovations that achieve energy reductions beyond the minimum 25% required for the program.
- income-qualified participants.
Unlike the BetterHomes loan, incentive grants do not need to be repaid; it’s free money to help make your renovation a reality!
You can only receive one BetterHomes Dufferin incentive. Your retrofit coach will help you determine which one is best for you. You may also qualify for external incentives.
Incentives based on energy savings
Incentives are provided for additional energy savings achieved through your upgrade beyond our minimum requirement of 25%. The incentive is provided on a sliding scale, up to $5,000 for 55% savings or higher.
| Energy Reduction | Incentive |
|---|---|
| 26% | $100 |
| 30% | $500 |
| 35% | $1,000 |
| 40% | $2,000 |
| 45% | $3,000 |
| 50% | $4,000 |
| 55%+ | $5,000 |
Incentives based on income
Income-qualified participants are eligible to receive an incentive grant of up to $10,000 to support their renovation project and offset the costs of borrowing. Please refer to the table to see if your household is income qualified.
| Number of people in the home | Before-tax household income |
